MARRAKECH HEATS UP FOR 1-54 ART FAIR

By Nii B. Andrews.

All roads lead to Marrakech this week especially if you are interested in CAA.

The 1-54 Art Fair (February 21- 24) steam rolls into town for its 2nd African edition following last year’s successful African debut.

No doubt Marrakech is more than a suitable host – with its first world infrastructure; alluring fountains, tree lined boulevards, drop dead architecture, idyllic parks, innovative design and wisecracking residents- the always ebullient and enterprising Marrachi and Marrachia.

My dear friend, Schwepito Jones who visited the city for the first time early this month, was enthralled with its energy and swag – and he, now a wizened denizen of nightlife and more should know.

The superlative local museum and gallery scene will seamlessly collaborate to invigorate the fair; the MACAAL, Comptoir des Mines, Vigo etc.

There will be multiple events throughout the city – in the Medina, Gueliz,  the Hivernage, Palmeriae, Route de Ourika, Sidi Ghanem and beyond.

Top international galleries will participate, well known international artists and young lions will cut their teeth and strut their stuff.

Multiple seminars and workshops have been scheduled to review and dissect the CAA scene.

And of course the BEAUTY FULL people will be out gingering things up while enjoying the floral ambience of this great ancient African city.
