The excitement is palpable in Morocco’s Southern Pearl – the Red City.
After a three-year hiatus, 1-54, the world’s leading art fair dedicated to CAA returns to Marrakech to mark its 10th anniversary.
The auspicious fair starts today and will end on February 12th.
Once again the main exhibition will be located at the magnificent La Mamounia Hotel.
Founding Director of 1-54, Touria El Glaoui, commented: “Finally, after 3 years away from our partners, friends, and family in Marrakech, we are delighted to announce our return to the beautiful La Mamounia hotel for our fourth fair on the African continent.
We recently celebrated the fair’s 10th year anniversary edition and what a perfect way to follow up from this than with the return to our intimate and much anticipated fair in Morocco.”
There will be 20 galleries from Africa, South America, Europe and the United States exhibiting the work of over 60 artists in a variety of media.
The 1-54 has maintained an impressive role in giving voice and visibility to important galleries and artists from Africa and the diaspora within an excellently curated and managed format in editions also located in London, New York and Paris.
From today, Marrakech will also host a full program of events that are an integral part of the fair.
These include events at Jajjah by Hassan Hajjaj, MACAAL (Musée d’Art Contemporain Africain Al Maaden), MAP Marrakech (Musée des Arts de la Parure), Malhoun 2.0 and Al Maqam (artists’ residence).
We anticipate that a highly successful event will be hosted in mythical Marrakech – Africa as it ought to be; progressive, warm and inclusive.
